Because I am a self confessed magazine-holic the idea for this post came from reading Newsweek, which I believe a person who makes conscientious decisions should read, because it is not aimed at the old balding white men on capitol hill it is aimed at people who want to know whats happening in the world and is appealing to a broad spectrum of people. Any who, there was an article about music videos and how Lady GaGa has the most viewed Youtube video (the number is somewhere in the hundred-millions) and then I thought about other people who had a monopoly on the music industry and Madonna was my first thought, two of the most iconic people in the music industry (followed by the Beatles, Michael Jackson, and Mozart). Why them, why in a music scene that is headed by African-Americans rapping on every channel are two of the biggest people white women? What traits do they share, They are both middle-class, white, women, they're both Italian and Roman Catholic and both pro-gay. Feel free to connect the dots however you want but a shout out to little guidettes everywhere stardom may be in your future.
